The Boeing 747 SuperTanker is the true “Next Gen” air tanker. It joins the worlds fleet of aerial firefighting tankers with almost twice the capacity of the next largest aerial tanker, with an unmatched range. The two separate Left hand and Right hand, constant flow systems use pressurization to allow for either continuous discharge or up to 8 segmented drops. Two different types of fluids can be carried on each side of the tank system. Coverage levels range from CL2 to CL8 and above. The system provides the widest and longest drop line in the industry and is approved for retardant, gel, water drops or the combination of any of these agents. The aircraft turn-around time in between missions is a remarkable 35 minutes.
At altitude the SuperTanker operates without any speed, altitude or operational restrictions. The aircraft provides a level of safety to ground personnel, property and natural resources unmatched by any other tanker, civilian or military.
With a speed of nearly 600 mph, the SuperTanker can reach virtually any point in North America in approximately 5 hours, ready to discharge its approved load amount of 17,500 gallons of retardant, or 19,200 gallons of water, before landing.
With true Global reach, once mobilized, the SuperTanker can be almost anywhere in the world in under 20 hours. Within 12 hours of arrival at the mission location the SuperTanker team is ready to begin previously coordinated flight operations with the host agency.
